Lately I have been having alot of fun with my dotting tool and my nail brush kit. There all sorts of designs you can come up with. This time I used a small square brush with a black varnish. Then white dots with a small dotting tool. My base color was a matte pink, but I decided to put clear shine on it at the end. Have fun with you nails and go get yourself a kit to make more designs!

Avon HydraBase Lipstick
The other day I went shopping and bought two Avon Hydrabase Seduction Lipsticks (Gorgeous Plum and Mocha Plum) I made a review about it and I absolutley loved it. It is hydrating and soft has a really nice smell to it and is a great price. I love Avon. I had fun making this video because of the bloopers. I love bloopers too! So yesterday in Mexico was the "Three Kings Day". Which is a Spanish tradition where the three kings bring kids gifts. So kids here (some of them) get presents from Santa in December and from the Three Kings in January! How exciting! So hope you enjoy the review!

I´m a Food Addict
Today I watched Oprah´s last show on weight loss. It provokes such a frustration and turmoil in me. I can relate to many things but I don´t relate to many more. One of the things I truly relate to is to accept that "I´m a Food Addict", but then I ask myself who isn´t? And what degree of addiction do I have? Food Addiction has to be rated in levels, because I am certainly not a binge eater. I don´t hide from others eating an amount of food I shouldn´t. But do I eat more than I should in a normal meal... yes. So what level of addiction do I have!?
When I see the amount of weight people have lost on these shows it consisted of years of hard work, not compared to the probably 4 to 6 months I would have to diet. Then by the time they have lost the weight they look a tad like I do!!!! So why do I feel like them when they were at their heaviest. I hate the age issue also, because I turned 31 and in an unconcious way that allows you to be a bit heavier than you were before... but why!??? Look at all those women who are in their 40´s or even 60´s and look better than I do!
Where does the line stop? What is the limit? Goodness, what level of food addiction do I have?!!! I have to admit, I don´t count calories and that may be one of the reasons I am 20 pounds overweight. Inside I die everday to look like I did 10 years ago! I can´t believe that I am actualy wearing my mom´s jeans. And my inner vision of what I look like is probably not what a really look like! I know this. But I lie to myself everyday.
So I always go to extremes.. and either diet to the extent that I can´t eat anything extra, which makes me lose my path quickly, or I eat everything on my plate and when given the opportunity eat everything I can try. So I´m going to try the middle option now.. I am actually going to start trying out portion control and counting calories and being a bit more active and being concious of what I look like and what I want to look like and what I do everyday to look better. So I´ll keep you posted on my process!
ME NOW (I´m the one in the gray striped shirt)....

Where does time go?
I remember when I was younger. I used to do so many things in one day! I had time to do my nails, hair, homework, organizing, etc! But now I find myself asking "where does time go!!!???" Maybe before there wasn´t internet or computers at home, which easily can steal 2 hours away from the day for me. But I also realize that being a housewife is also why time flies.
Even thought I do a few basic chores in the day I find myself struggling with the clock! Maybe it´s because I´m also enoying my summer vacation. No work and no schedule to keep. I ask myself if things might change even more when my family grows.
Sometimes I can´t get to many of the important things that have to be done. You either have to plan your time or have to just do things as they come without caring. Today I cooked for myself and ate at 5:00 in the afternoon. Which is 3 hours later than I´m expected to have lunch at. But it was a delicious and healthy meal and I was able to fit in 40 min. of exercise, laundry, going to the supermarket, talking in skype, and taking a rented movie back... boy......do you think that was good time management, while enjoying my vacation for a period of 6 hours... I don´t know anymore!!!

Sleep and a good idea for fish....
Today I watched Oprah and she presented a book called 20 years younger. It was a challenge that many women were undergoing to become healthier. I´m 30 so I don´t plan to feel 10 years old! LOL but I learned a few things like the importance of taking vitamins and also sleeping from 7 to 9 hours. I do that anyway. I do have to take vitamins though. The bad thing is that I have to take them at lunch, because vitamins make me queazy.
I am making a vegetable soup today and will post how I made it. If it turns out delicious! I won´t post anything if it´s not that great!
But I read that you can put thyme, rosemary, pepper and dijon mustard on salmon or fish. Sounds great right! Trying it out this week. Meanwhile I am going to enjoy my thursday and last days of my spring break! Have a great day!

Improvement from within
Yesterday I mentioned on Facebook that I was going to start a blog called "Improve from Within". At the time it was kind of a ridiculous thought but actually it´s been something that has been stirring inside me for a while now. What to do, what to do? Should I do a blog about beauty, should I do a blog about diet and exercise, should I write one about my everyday life? So I have decided to cover all of these themes and combine them into a whole lifestyle blog, of a woman who has the same conflicts that probably most average women have. I am not tremendously overweight, but have aprox 10-12 kilos to lose, I have been happily married for a year and a half and have known my husband for 11 years now. I do mainly two things: teach English at a primary school in Puebla, Mexico and do Professional Makeup on the side.
It´s weird because on the one hand I am the formal schoolteacher but on the other hand I am the quirky, rock fashion makeup artist. So I feel a bit bipolar sometimes. Anyway yesterday I watched a video that mentions 4 main habits that one can take to reach weightloss.
1. Don´t think of your goal weight, but think of the everday habits you overtake to achieve it.
2.Eat slowly, by the time your halfway through your plate you´ll realize that you are satisfied.
3.Don´t eat from a bag or carton.
4.Yes! You can have pasta, but mix in your one cup portion with veggies to make it look substantial.
So hopefully with these tips there can be a starting point for you to "improve from within". Many more tips about becoming a wellrounded person regarding, beauty, wisdom, health, nutrition and makeup to come!!! Now, I´ll just go back to eating my oatmeal with blueberries.

What to do?
Ok. So I am thinking about creating a blog about two main topics. I usually write about life thoughts on this blog, but I am feeling enthusiastic about making two blogs that have themes around them. The first idea, of course, has to do with make up and beauty! The second blog is about my journey trying to live a healthier, leaner and more active lifestyle. Quite difficult when you actually have to sit down to write the blog, or upload things on it. But I am a little hesitant about doing a "losing weight" blog, because I´m scared something might not work out, or I might not reach a goal, or that by actually putting myself out there, I might be risking too much. What if I don´t follow through? What if I don´t do what I am proposing myself to do. The make up blog, seems fun to me and it´s something I enjoy, but the lose weight blog, seems risky! What should I do followers???? Maybe both??? Give me some feedback!

Sometimes cherries can have too much sugar.
So lately I have been realizing that due to my methodical ways, I continuely feel frustrated that there is always a better or more perfect way of doing things. I remember reading Dr. Phil´s "7 Keys to Weightloss" and defining myself as a person who goes to extremes when eating. I can´t have just one of the desserts at the party. I have to try a little of all of them, and then: how on Earth can I go to a party and have not even one drink or appetizer? I must as well just pig out! So, that´s one issue. At school I always think of better ways I could organize myself. When it comes to lifestyle, I have even thought of maybe making a chart to check off every month for when I call my grandmother, or maybe grocery shopping.
Creative people aren´t so uptight about things, some of us though, I think, are right in between. It´s a constant conflict of organization and freedom. It´s quite draining! But at the end of it all we have to give ourselves the freedom to find comfort and happiness in what we do. I always believe that sitting at the computer is such a waste of time sometimes. Which means that I am wasting time now! See what I mean.... Anyway, the cherry on top, on this ocassion, is to find balance. Each to their own, but in the search for balance and happiness in our own particular routines, we can find peace. The oriental culture has prouded itself on finding ways to perfect just about everything they do, so even if you are folding a shirt, writing, singing, listening to music, cooking or eating, try to make it something enjoyable and try to find peace in everything you do. So eat your cherries and yes,,, I named today´s blog "sometimes cherries have too much sugar" because these past couple of weeks I have been such a sugar junkie, from sweet hojaldras, to carrot cake and cookies. But hopefully the next cherry will be about starting a workout routine!
Until next time!
By the way here is a pic of my class for Halloween this year and some good friends during the parade at school!

How to tell we are in the future....
So I realized today that style and fashion tell me that I am literally "in the future". I was driving and I saw a "punk rocker". You know, the tube skinny jeans, a belt to the side and pointy hair. So that made me think of the 80´s. Then crossing the street was a girl wearing bell bottoms (known today, as flared jeans).Which reminded me of the 70´s. After that I saw a guy on his bicycle and he was wearing one of those old style hats, reminiscent of the 40´s and 50´s. So what is fashion in the future? Just a big pot of everything. I really don´t see clothes changing anytime soon. Not in a radical way. I´m sure we won´t go back to bloomers and huge heavy dresses or corsets. Maybe not a great thought of the day, but if there is anytime to be yourself and find a personal style, it´s now!

Looking at things in a sweet way....
So, my blog is called the "Cherry on top" and its whole purpose is to look at things positively, I found myself in an odd thought and situation today. Usually at Puebla street corners, you´ll once in a while be bombarded by one or two men trying to convince you to let them clean your windshield. I usually get very upset and yell constantly that I don´t want them anywhere near my car. But today I thought "well why don´t they just go for it!, it could use a good cleaning today!" Then in less than one minute both the windshield and back glass had been completely cleaned. I gave the guy 5 pesos and when he looked at his hand he held it toward his friend in awe of how much money it was compared to what they usually get.
I always have found myself complaining at these people. But if you look at it with the "cherry on top" philosophy you´ll find that it´s actually pretty nice to have your car cleaned in such haste and swiftness. I had realized with the rain and all, that some residue was started to accumulate in these forgotten areas. Now I can view this situation in a whole new light. One of the perks of living in Mexico. Or one of the downsides, if you don´t want to eat today´s cherry.

Why? The cherry on top.
OK. So a couple of friends have convinced me that a blog is a way to write about your life, thoughts and experiences. I always thought my life was pretty random, but have realized that maybe with a little bit of thought and my "wonderful sense of humor" and a tad of sarcasm on occasion it might be a good way to share things with family and friends who aren´t so close. So I have named my Blog "The cherry on top". I love cherries! Especially the nasty medicine tasting ones! So when I have a dessert or ice cream that cherry will be the very last thing I eat! I always leave the best for the last bite. So hopefully allthough some of my thoughts might be random to me or some experiences as well, they are the cherry on top for me. I have to view everyday like if it were. We need to search for happiness everyday. I once asked a woman in a store why she was always so cheerful and what she answered was "I´m with God!" I loved her answer so much, that I felt the same way. So if you like cherries, or chocolate or even a good shrimp cocktail. Live every day like if it were your last bite! I´m going to particulary continue to work a bit this weekend because I start school on Monday, so I´ll probably be eating a disgusting head of garlic all by itself! But even garlic can be tasty! Tune in for the next entry.... who knows what will run through my thoughts! But do know they´ll probably be funny and great stories of a newlywed 20..10.... year old....(not the year).
